As a librarian I often work with students who have little or no clue how to find quality resources, never mind how to determine if these resources are quality. It matters not if the students are undergrad or graduate, they don't know how to systematically and efficiently locate things they want.
I think it a cycle: students don't find what they want quickly or easily , they settle for less than the best, they frustrated and don't learn, and repeat. We wind up graduating professionals who simply have a great deal of difficulty keeping their professional knowledge current.
I strongly agree with Helen's comment. As an older grad student I am just now learning to utilize technology to find current information. I believe this informatics class should be a requirement for all nursing students because even those with a great deal of familiarity with computer usage could still benefit. Elizabth Antle
Pravikoff, Tanner, & Pierce have not only written an article that identifies the major stumbling block for U. S. evidenced based practice, they have written a highly readable article. More articles of this caliber would support the use of reported research.
There are suggested improvements are listed at management and at practice level, and an impressive resources are provided.
