I enjoyed the article. I think ethics is definitely an important issue and with everything that nurses have access to, ethics is paramount. Sometines I think nurses don't realize what they are doing jeopardizes their ethical integrity.
Ethics, smethics.....

I agree with Kathryn's point about someimes nurses don't think about how their actions may comprmise their ethical integrity.

Think about the recent news about George Clooney. He was in an motorcycling accident and was treated at a local hospital where he had the accident. Over 30 employees accessed his medical records that did not have a "need to know". They have all be suspended for 30 days from their jobs. Where did they misplace their ethics when they decided that the vicarious thrill of looking at his medical records was worth the fallout of getting caught?

It always surprises me how nosy nurses are. Most of us think we are exempt when it comes to patient information. We think just because we work at a facility, we have the right to know everything about every patient there. Ethical issues come up every day--we need to hold ourselves accountable.
